For years innumerable I have watched

Over you like a guardian immobile

And inert weightless of

Thought and action watching

Your folly your careless

Acts of love and war and death

Yearning as one your fate to

Avoid or delay cast off upon another

Creating high air-borne god images

Of all your inconsistencies to

Fall down at your feet and offer up the

Sacrificial materials that you can

Do without the company of strangers

Souls that lie beneath and line

The corridors along which each

Will pass before my eyes

Which stare languid and impassive

The mark of time upon my flesh

Of stone which grows

As all below me fall.
