Pull another face
From the library shelf
To mask the lines
That run too deep
For mortal eyes to see.
Slide on the tinted lens
Disguise the bleeding iris
Which endless stares
The chasm dark
That reaches deep within.
Crack the shallow smile
To satiate the blind
And cling on hard
The tear-stained rope
That holds back your final fall.
