We hide ourselves

In waters deep

Amidst the silt

Secrets to keep,

And tear at those

Who venture near

Whilst mocking those

Who share a tear,

Hide our faces

From day’s true light

Hugging shadows

Embracing night,

And when at last

We find our wings

Reveal ourselves

The truth to sing,

We show ourselves

A mayfly dance

As in Death’s arms

We find romance.
