Darkly Gothic she rose
A minaret against
A pomegranate sky,
Her voice calm
Soft like the first kiss of morning,
Rose-petal words
To soothe the ears
And embalm the mind,
Sounds that sink like water-weeds
Their heavy roots enwraping
And choking flowing thoughts,
Still now like an ox-bow
Awaiting the flood.
