I lay down my armour
My shield and sword
When at last I saw
What the fighting was for,
I cast off beliefs
That I’d nurtured for years
The roots of frustration
The love and the fear,
I saw with new eyes
What I’d held to be true
That nothing will change
Not the old or the new,
So I harboured at last
My pen and my words
Now certain and sure
My voice hadn’t been heard.

Sometimes, it takes a wakeup call like this, for us to realize what exactly we had been, fighting for, and map out s brand new course of action.
Very true. Thanks for reading and commenting.
I get that feeling as history repeats itself rather than learning anything from events.
And then comes the ‘what’s the point’ moment. Thanks for that, Peter, pleased that this ‘reached’ you.
That’s how I see it too. SO well-penned.
Thanks, B, I appreciate you understanding where I was coming from with this.
I so do, Chris. You’re welcome.
☺
I get it, I do ….and don’t you dare put away your pen or your words!
Thank you so much for this it genuinely is a comfort. I guess we all go through patches like this.
