Darkness Long

When time rings short
But darkness is long
And clings like mist around your soul
I will slip, unnoticed,
Beneath your sheets,
Curl my fingers cold
Around you,
Grow ice inside
Your heart,
And kiss those lips
That stumble through truths.
And when your hope
Lies gagging, infantile, lost
I will drift on broken wings
Of desolation and despair
And settle on another
And leave them with
My love.

  4. “Darkness Long”, lovely, and yet so distant and cold. Thank you for such strong visual images, I quite like it. Wonderful opening lines,

    “When time rings short
    But darkness is long”

  5. Lovely personification and a solemn drip of beautiful poetry, which lingers too. Very nice.
